For official recognition and to get started competitively, an Ethics Bowl team should complete a two-step registration process. These steps should generally be completed in tandem:

1. Teams should register with their geographically closest Regional Competition by contacting its Organizer(s).

2. All teams participating in the NHSEB program must register with NHSEB HQ each season, and pay a yearly registration fee. The registration fee for 2026-2027 is $175, if schools register before November 1, 2026. On November 1, fees will increase to $250. All registrations for 2026-2027 must be received no later than January 15, 2027. NHSEB HQ is committed to ensuring that no students are prevented from participating because of financial need. NHSEB regional events make up the first stage of the NHSEB competition. Regionals will take place between December and February, at the discretion of the regional organizer. Check our regional competition page to find your closest event!

The winners of regional events will be eligible to participate in single elimination online matches with other winning schools from the same geographic region.

The National Championship event takes place at UNC Chapel Hill in North Carolina. The winners of divisional events earn a place at the national championship event! For 2026-2027, the National Championship event will take place April 23-25, 2027.
