COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

To ensure that everyone has a positive experience on NHSEB’s Discord Server, we ask that all members follow these community guidelines. All members must formally agree to these guidelines as prompted in Discord before posting permissions are granted.

  1. Respect Others: We expect all participants to treat each other with respect, regardless of differences in opinions or backgrounds. This includes refraining from personal attacks, insults, or harassment of any kind. We also ask that you avoid using offensive language.

  2. Stay on Topic: Our Discord server is dedicated to discussing all things ethics bowl, so please keep your conversations focused on these topics. While we encourage lively debate and discussion, we ask that you avoid veering off-topic or engaging in unrelated conversations.

  3. Be Open-Minded: One of the primary goals of the Ethics Bowl is to encourage participants to consider different perspectives and viewpoints. We encourage you to approach discussions with an open mind, and to listen respectfully to others' opinions, even if you do not agree with them.

  4. Identify, But Protect Your Privacy: While we do ask that participants use their real names on our server, we encourage you to protect your privacy otherwise. This includes refraining from sharing personal details and avoiding sharing any information that could put you or others at risk.

  5. No Spam or Self-Promotion: We ask that you refrain from posting spam or engaging in self-promotion on our Discord server. This includes sharing links to personal websites, promoting products or services, or otherwise using the server as a platform for self-promotion.

  6. Follow Discord's Terms of Service: Our Discord server is subject to Discord's terms of service, which prohibit illegal or harmful activity. We expect all participants to abide by these terms, and to report any violations to our moderators.

  7. Follow Moderator Instructions: Our staff and student moderators are here to ensure that everyone has a positive experience. If a moderator asks you to refrain from a particular behavior or to comply with a certain rule, we ask that you follow their instructions promptly and respectfully.

  8. Report Violations: If you see members violating our community guidelines or engaging in behavior that is harmful or inappropriate, please report it to our moderators. You can do so by sending a direct message to any of our designated moderators, or by using the report function within Discord.

Repeated violations of any and all of these rules may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the community. By following these community guidelines, we can create a positive and constructive environment for all NHSEB participants. Thank you for joining our server, and we look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions with you!
