Kirby Appointed NHSEB’s Third Director

The Parr Center for Ethics is proud to announce the appointment of the National High School Ethics Bowl’s third Director, Leonidas (Leo) Kirby.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina’s Department of Philosophy, Leo returns to Chapel HIll effective June 24, 2024. Leo comes to NHSEB with professional experience in games design, classroom instruction, and educational technology. He is no stranger to the Ethics Bowl activity, having played a crucial part in the program’s development during his time as a student at UNC.  Of his appointment and his first days, Leo offered: “I have observed first hand the transformative impact that the NHSEB has on the students who participate. It is an exercise that uniquely values critical thinking and collaboration, and I am honored to be part of facilitating its vital work. I look forward to continuing the NHSEB’s sterling reputation.” Outgoing Director Alex Richardson said, “Leo’s appointment is truly excellent news for the NHSEB program. I’m very proud and excited to see him take the helm, and I look forward to supporting his work for years to come.” The 2024-2025 Season of the National High School Ethics Bowl will kick off in September under Leo’s leadership. We hope you’ll join the conversation, and be a part of NHSEB’s biggest and best year yet.
